Our Story

St. Aubin Nursery was founded by Eugene A.de St. Aubin in 1913 in Addison, IL. The nursery remained and flourished in Addison until 1968, when the construction of Interstate 290 forced the company to move west.

A new nursery was established 9 miles southwest of Belvidere in 1969 with the purchase of 200 acres. In 1985, after (4) four generations of de St. Aubins at the head of operations, the nursery was purchased by Patrick Sullivan. Mr. Sullivan brought a new enthusiasm and rekindled a dedication to growing top quality landscape plant material. Varieties of trees and shrubs were expanded. New equipment replaced veteran machinery. An additional 200 acres were bough adjacent to the nursery to help handle the increase in production.

We continue to remain a family owned business and pride ourselves on providing superior plants to the landscaping community.

We are located in Zone 4 in North Central Illinois. We are nestled halfway between Chicago and Madison, WI with easy access from I-90, Rte. 20, Rte. 72, and I-39/51.

We feature several hundred pre-dug shade, ornamental, and evergreen trees under drip irrigation. We are especially proud to advertise that we are Native Plant Specialists.
